The month of October is upon us already and we have all settled in very well and are working very hard.

Cool Science for Young students

Tá an scoil ag glacadh páirt  i  tionscadal ‘Cool Science for Young Scientists’ maoiniú ó Erasmus + Strategic Partnership. Thar na blianta beimid ag comhoibriú le múinteoirí & daltaí ó scoileanna as an Ungáir, An Ghearmáin,  An Ghreig, Co. Shligigh, An Slóivéin & An Tuirc. Beidh muid ag comhoibriú le chéile ar an ábhar  – eolaíocht (aer, uisce  tine). Tá an béim ar dea-chleachtas & ag foghlaim nuálaíocht sa teagasc.

I rith an tionscadal beidh deiseanna ag na múinteoirí & roinnt daltaí taistil go dti na scoileanna eile.

Bhí comórtas againn  – ag dearadh Lógó. Bhí na páistí iontach mhaith aagus an cruthaíoch. Bhí sé an deacair buaiteoir a roghnú!

Tá múinteoirí ó na tíortha eile ag teacht ar cuairt an Déardaoin seo. Bualfaidh said lena páistí go léir agus éistfidh said lena páistí ag canadh & ag casadh ceol.

The school is taking part in a project with funding from Erasmus + Strategic Partnership. The project is called ‘Cool Science for Young Scientists’. Over the next 2 years we will be working with teachers and students in Hungary, Germany, Greece, Sligo, Slovenia and Turkey. We will be working collaboratively on science – water, air & fire.

Over the 2 years a number of students and teachers will have the opportunity to travel to the other schools.

We had a Jersey day in aid of GOAL. Every child wore a football jersey or green & red clothes. We had a collection for GOAL and raised €158.00. Thanks

 Tinreamh/attendance

Is gá go mbeadh tinreamh rialta ag do pháiste chun dul chun cinn a dhéanamh. Ag cloí leis an tAcht Oideachais (Leas) 2000, tá dualgas ar an scoil tuairisc a dhéanamh ar pháiste ar bith a chailleann amach ar 20 lá scoile nó níos mó in aon bhliain amháin. Is gá don Tuiste/Chaomhnóir go dlíthiúil fáth i scríbhinn a thabhairt ar asláithreachas an pháiste don scoil.

Regular attendance in school is crucial to your child’s progress. In accordance with the Education Welfare Act the school has a duty to report a child who has missed 20 days or more in one academic year. Parents/Guardians are obliged by law to provide a written explanation on their child’s absence to the school.

Bígí in am / In Time for School

Tá sé fíor-thábhachtach go bhfuil na páistí in am don lá scoile gach uile lá. Ba chóir go mbeadh siad sa líne nuair a bhuaileann an clog, ag a 8:50.

It is very important that the children are on time for school every day. The children should be in their line when the bell rings at 8:50.

Lón Scoile

Faigheann na páistí bricfeasta & lón ó Carambola.  Déan cinnte go roghnaíonn bia a itheann na paistí. Beidh fuílleach bia curtha abhaile. Is féidir libh iad a athrú ar líne – tá an uimhir ar na málaí lón & an pasfhocal atá ann ná carambola. Muna bhfuil an lón seo uathu ní fiú ag insint duinn.

The children are getting breakfast and lunch provided by Carambola. You should check that the children are happy with the food selected – leftovers will be sent home. It can be changed on-line – log-in number on lunch bag & password carambola. Just let us know if they don’t want the lunch.

Cácaí Breithlá/Birthday Cakes

Tarlaíonn sé ó am go ham go dtugtar cacaí &rl. isteach sna ranganna ar bhreithlaethanta páistí.  Faraoir caithfear deireadh a chur leis seo:

Tá daltaí sa scoil & ailléirge bhia de shaghas éigin orthu.  (a) D’fhéadfadh na ‘treats’ seo deacrachtaí shláinte a chruthú dóibh siúd. (b)  Tá an baol ann go gcuirfí brú ar pháistí eile sa rang chéanna nuair nach dtarlaíonn a leithéid de ‘chóisir’ dóibh siúd.

Táimid cinnte go dtuigfidh sibh cad atá i gceist againn anseo. Maith agaibh as ucht bhur gcomhoibriú.

It occasionally happens that cakes etc. are brought into school to celebrate children’s birthdays.  Unfortunately we have to end this practice for two important reasons:  (a) A number of children in the school suffer from a variety of food allergies.    (b) Other children in the class could feel ‘hard done by’ if their birthdays are not similarly celebrated.  We believe that all of you will understand the issues here. Thanks for your co-operation.

Tá rang Darragh ag déanamh aclaíocht laethiúil – ag rith 1km.

Rang Darragh are exercising daily – running 1km.
